Karma’s Wild Rollercoaster Ride!
Hold onto your hats, folks, because karma’s rollercoaster is one wild ride! Ever felt like the universe is playing a cosmic game of ping-pong with your life? One moment you’re on a high, finding unexpected treasures, and the next, you’re left scratching your head, wondering where your luck vanished. Dive into this whirlwind tale of $100 bills, cosmic ATMs, and the universe’s cheeky sense of humor. If you thought karma was just about good deeds and bad deeds, think again. It’s more unpredictable, more mischievous, and definitely more entertaining than you ever imagined!
Is Karma: Real? Chance? Synchronicity? Serendipity?
Many years ago, I was walking across a motel parking lot in Salinas CA to my car at 5:30 AM. I was on my way to Asilomar for the Diamond Approach summer retreat. Looking down, I saw a bill on the ground. I was pleased to discover it was a $100 bill. It went in my pocket.
About fifteen years later, I was with family at the Thanksgiving Day Buffet at Red Hawk Casino in El Dorado County CA where I managed to, unknowingly, drop a $100 black chip on the ground. I remembered that $100 bill from years ago. Easy come, easy go.
About three years later, I’m out for my morning walk at 6 AM in Folsom CA. It’s winter, so, it’s still dark. Looking down at the sidewalk, I see a $100 bill. It goes in my pocket while I remember the previous two situations,
The Universe’s ATM
Ever think of the universe as a quirky ATM? Sometimes it spits out a $100 bill when you least expect it, and other times, it sneakily deducts from your cosmic account. Maybe it’s the universe’s way of keeping things interesting. Or perhaps it’s just testing our observation skills. Either way, always keep an eye on the ground!
Is this karma, or chance, or serendipity? Maybe all three? You know, what goes around, comes around.
Karmic Interest Rates
Karma seems to have its own interest rates, doesn’t it? One moment you’re up a hundred bucks, and the next, you’re scratching your head wondering where it vanished. But hey, at least it’s a no-fee system. And the best part? No paperwork!
If karma does exist at a cosmic scale of balance, you reap what you sow level, does that explain schadenfreude (pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune)? If I experience schadenfreude, does that mean the future holds the reverse experience for me?
I like to think of karma as ‘where ever you go there you are’. I’ve moved across the country a couple of times in attempts to escape from morasses of issues and difficulties only to discover that the same issues and difficulties soon arose in the new location.
Cosmic Comedy Club
If there’s a cosmic comedy club somewhere out there, our little karmic encounters are probably the headlining act. Picture the universe, sipping on a cosmic cocktail, chuckling as we marvel at these “coincidences.” “Got ’em again!” it says, waiting for the next round of laughs.
I’m a slow learner, but even I could figure this one out.
Whether you call it karma, chance, serendipity, synchronicity, fate, or destiny, the universe has a mysterious way of weaving our experiences into a tapestry of lessons and revelations. Each twist and turn, each high and low, is a chapter in our unique story, reminding us that life is not just about the destination, but the journey itself. Embrace the unexpected, cherish the moments of serendipity, and remember that every encounter, whether seemingly good or bad, is a stepping stone on the path to greater understanding and growth.
Weither rendering veils of love or narcissism, or splitting them into distinct parts, a theoretical cause and affect can be deduced. How they affect others individually or society at large can be experienced directly, but in the limited context of the conceptual realty we perceive at the time, along with the potential judgements from others or ourselves. At this point Kegan’s Constructive Developmental Theory of, ‘meaning making’ comes to mind, particularly level 5.
Order 5: Self-Transforming Mind. In this order of consciousness, which is infrequently reached and never reached before the age of forty (Kegan, 1994), individuals see beyond themselves, others, and systems of which they are a part to form an understanding of how all people and systems interconnect (Kegan, 2000). They recognize their “commonalities and interdependence with others” (Kegan, 1982, p. 239). Relationships can be truly intimate in this order, with nurturance and affiliation as the key characteristics. Kegan (1982) noted that only rarely do work environments provide these conditions and that long-lasting adult love relationships do not necessarily do so either.

So from that notion, most don’t experience where they are, or where they are going, relative to any great mystery or Void.
